Gregrey S. Smith, CEM, CLEP, LEED AP BD+C, CEA
President, Energy Optimizers, USA
Greg Smith is responsible for over $5,000,000 of annual energy audits, energy efficiency projects and energy conservation programs within the Ohio educational market.
With certifications as a LEED AP, Certified Energy Manager, Certified Energy Auditor, and Certified Lighting Efficiency Professional, Greg is highly skilled in assisting his customers to identify and implement energy saving measures that result in significant energy and utility cost savings.
His experience in the energy rebate and grant arena also enables him to assist his customers apply for, and acquire, substantial rebate and grant funding for energy efficiency projects.
Greg has a B.A. Degree from Wilmington College and an M.A. Degree from the University of North Dakota. He is an active member of the Association of Energy Engineers (Dayton Chapter board member), Green Energy Ohio, the Environmental Education Council of Ohio, the American Society of Heating Refrigeration Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), the I-70/75 Development Association, and the American and International Solar Society.
Mr. Smith is also a Certified Maintenance Plan Advisor for the Ohio School Facilities Commission, the Ohio Public Maintenance Facilities Association, Buckeye Association of School Administrators, Ohio Association of School Business Officials and the Ohio School Boards Association.
Mr. Smith was selected as a “Legend in Energy” at the World Energy Conference, 2010 and received an Honorable Mention from Green Energy Ohio.
In 2009, Greg’s efforts were recognized through an award by the World Energy Conference and the Association of Energy Engineers for the West Carrollton City School District energy conservation project (Project of the Year). He is a frequent speaker and presenter at conferences and educational programs, including the World Energy Conference, the Ohio Energy Management Conference and numerous Ohio educational conferences.
Mr. Smith has conducted energy audits for educational institutions totally over 4,000,000 square feet over the past 4 years, including large local educational institutions such as:
• Kettering City Schools (14 facilities totaling 1,489,800 square feet)
• West Carrollton City Schools (7 facilities totaling 544,720 square feet)
• Miamisburg City Schools (9 facilities totaling 544,694 square feet).
Greg, his wife Stephanie, and their four children reside in Tipp City, Ohio. Greg is an active supporter, coach and board representative for numerous non-profit organizations, including the Tipp City School District’s Business Advisory Board and Levy Committee, the Troy Hockey Booster Association, the Tipp City Youth baseball League, the Ohio Energy Project’s Board of Directors, the Tipp City Downtown Partnership Committee and a board member for the Dayton Chapter of the Association of Energy Engineers.
Belinda Kenley
Vice President of Business Development
Belinda Kenley serves Energy Optimizers, USA, as Vice President of Business Development. She is responsible for new business development, sales and operating activities, and Green Team educational programs for school districts.
Kenley previously worked for Ohio Attorney General and Auditor of State Betty D. Montgomery and is a member of Centerville City Council. She is in the current class of Leadership Dayton and is active in numerous professional organizations, including Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce, Association of Energy Engineers, I-70/75 Development Association, and National League of Cities.
Kenley, who serves on Centerville City Council, is a graduate of Sinclair Community College and the Jo Ann Davidson Ohio Leadership Institute. She brings significant experience in management, marketing, and government to Energy Optimizers, USA. She is involved in numerous community organizations, including the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce, the South Metro Regional Chamber of Commerce, and the Centerville Women’s Civic Club, among others.
Kenley serves on the National League of Cities Community & Economic Development Steering Committee. She was recognized recently by Women in Business Networking as one of the year’s “25 Women To Watch”. Ohio’s former Auditor of State Betty D. Montgomery awarded her the Distinguished Service Award in 2003 for her work with the Attorney General’s office and the Auditor of State’s office. Belinda and her husband Robert live in Centerville.
Bob Hausmann
Operations Manager
Bob Hausmann serves as Energy Optimizers, USA Operations Manager. Hausmann, with more than thirty years’ experience in design, development and construction, manages the company’s energy conservation projects and lighting retrofits, primarily in K-12 schools and local government agencies throughout Ohio. He formerly owned Hausmann Homes, designing and building custom homes and renovating existing homes with a focus on sustainable green living, and was Partner/President of Special Projects Group at Miller Valentine Group from 1983-2006. Bob is a registered architect and LEED AP, BD+C, with a B.S. from University of Detroit. He is affiliated with the U.S. Green Building Council and the American Institute of Architects, and serves in leadership volunteer roles with Habitat for Humanity and Dayton Red Cross.
Josh Foor
Energy and Mechanical Engineer
Josh Foor joins the team as an Energy and Mechanical Engineer and will be primarily responsible for energy efficiency projects, lighting efficiency projects, and renewable energy projects.
Josh is a recent graduate from the University of Dayton School of Engineering with a Master’s degree in Renewable and Clean Energy as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. He has an eager young mind and an incredible enthusiasm for the energy and efficiency field. Josh hopes to contribute his hard work and knowledge to further strengthen the already strong Energy Optimizers, USA team.
Brian Abels
Energy and Mechanical Engineer
Brian is a graduate from the University of Dayton, School of Engineering with a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a focus in Energy Systems Engineering, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Brian developed a strong background in energy efficiency working for the Dayton office of the Department of Energy’s Industrial Assessment Center where he helped more than 30 mid-sized manufacturers in the Ohio area to achieve over $1.4 million in implemented annual energy savings.
Michael McDermott
Digital Marketing and Advertising – Bash Foo
Michael joined Energy Optimizers, USA in 2009, providing a strategic marketing plan for sustainable and renewable energy resources in Ohio.
In addition to his company Bash Foo providing Energy Optimizers, USA with cutting edge website design services, his company also coordinates the print media, brochure design, press releases and social media campaigns that have helped to catapult Energy Optimizers, USA as one of the most widely recognized energy management firms in the state of Ohio.
